We reopened on Schedule!

Kasbah du toubkal is open and operating as normal

"Congrats on everything that you have been building in Morocco, business and charity-wise. I knew when coming that the Kasbah and the Lodge would certainly be privileged locations, but by seeing it in person I realised that it was way above my expectations. I also want to highlight your staff members' precious quality and kindness."

As Kasbah chef Omar Aït Idar pours a welcoming glass of mint tea on the roof terrace and Lahcen Igdem settles behind his reception desk, we are very happy to announce that we opened Kasbah du Toubkal on 20th December, right on schedule. Guests settled in for lunch on our roof terrace under a bright blue Moroccan sun, and we were delighted to receive probably the best review of our tagine and couscous we have ever had!

Plus ça change

As you can see from the photos, all taken on the day Kasbah du Toubkal reopened on 20th December, little has changed with the facilities guests have previously enjoyed. Bedrooms, roof terrace, hammam, ‘Room with a View’, all the same. And of course, nothing can change the glourious views of Jbel Toubkal and the magnificence of the surrounding countryside.

Whether it’s to take a coffee, enjoy lunch with friends - big straw hats provided - or simply relax under Morocco’s deep blue skies, our roof terrace, with its spectacular view south directly to Jbel Toubkal, North Africa’s highest mountain, totally lives up to Condé Nast Traveller’s words of praise.

"Thank you so much for having us to stay. We were delighted to be amongst your first guests at the reopening."

Nothing has changed at our High Atlas trekking lodge in the Azzaden Valley, a lifetime away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech.

"We have traveled extensively all over the world, and may have just found our new favorite place. It is an absolutely magical place to stay. From the welcome when you arrive - the hike with the mules is just plain fun - it is five star… I’d give it 10 (out of 5) if I could. It was pouring rain when we rolled into imlil, but we were immediately provided with rain gear and appropriate footwear by a sweet local for a few dirham. We stayed in the apartment, with breathtaking views of the valley, a crazy great fireplace, heated floors, everything you could need in the kitchen. Hearing the echoing call to prayer in the valley is absolutely spiritual.

The food - without question it was best we had in ten days in Morocco. We took advantage of the hamman after a day of trekking; fantastic! We were very fortunate to get to visit with Mike the founder and hear about the project as well as Education For All, the girls school program. Our stay was way too short; this was a wonderfully unique experience that cannot be reproduced. Sure, you can find less expensive places, but do yourself a favor and splurge - it is worth every penny. An absolute MUST DO.

We cannot wait to come back!!!."

Kasbah du Toubkal’s acclaim lies in many parts, as much as anything for it’s situation, perched on a hilltop at the end of a footpath that leads directly to its solid wooden door. But as much as anything it is the affection guests hold for the people who take care of them from the moment they enter Imlil, the excellence of the Kasbah’s local cuisine and the beauty of the vistas from almost every angle of the Berber Hospitality Centre that bring them back time and time again. None of this has changed. The Kasbah is the Kasbah, and that’s the way it will always be. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Kasbah.
